What
We Believe About Technology
We believe that any workplace powered
by today’s technology will make Internet-based computing
and communications easier, more personalized, and more
productive for individuals and businesses. We also believe
that no industry today needs this technology
more than the healthcare industry.
Our Vision
We envision smart software keeping us connected to the
people, activities, and information that are meaningful
to us. We envision ourselves infuzing technology into
the workplace—domestically and abroad—to overcome
the widespread inefficiencies in computing and information
management, especially in the contexts of clinical research
and clinical care.
Our View of Information Systems
To us, information systems are like ecological systems.
In an ecological system, operational performance depends
on the proper functioning of structured relationships
between organisms
and the environment. Any failure in
this relational network produces an imbalance, and all
affected organisms must pay the price to adapt. Similarly,
in an information system, performance depends
on efficient
relationships between people, computers, storage devices,
and outside sources. An information system must be designed
with these relationships in mind, or they will never achieve
peak performance.
Understanding the Modern IT
Challenge
In today’s business environment, sharing secure
and accurate information quickly is vital to decision
making and business strategy. Information databases hold
the keys to business
growth. However, many databases are
designed with a specific purpose in mind and with little
consider-
ation to relationship with different databases.
They are like isolated islands of
information that do
not integrate with other business information systems.
The consequence:
data inconsistency, redundancy, and other
operational drawbacks resulting from inefficient information
sharing.
Our Approach to the Challenge
We design and construct enterprise systems around an information
ecology concept that facilitates communication between
all other systems within and outside of an organization.
Each design is tailored to the client’s specific
needs, integrating different types of information flows
between the enterprise and disparate application systems.
The result is a unified experience
of business-critical information. We achieve this
through the union of structured and unstructured data
within an organization.
